Design is evident in almost all walks of life in which Man plays a role with his manmade inventions and innovations. This has been so ever since human beings became creative and discerning. A practical item or object may be functional, but it may appear sloppy or fail to perform according to expectations, due to design flaws.
The ancient Romans were known to be masterful designers. Many of their buildings, aqueducts, roads and concrete structures have endured until today, bearing clear evidence of the science and art of great design. In such cases, great design involved need to accomplish a project or attain a set goal in a better way. The systems and structures’ appearance and materials required to ensure its desired performance and methods with which it was assembled, were paramount in its effective operation.
Organisational design has somewhat more abstract aspects, but the principles are similar. This discipline has been described as “the creation of structures, processes and roles, so that the goals and objectives of an organisation can be realised”.
An organisation’s structure may be visualised and illustrated by means of an organisational chart or organogram. Organograms were strictly applied in certain very formal companies, but all indicate the lines of reporting and responsibilities within a company, including those that utilise a largely flat management structure. The latter has become increasingly popular nowadays, since modern businesses have tended to adopt less dictatorial, more participative management styles.
Our company, a team of qualified, professional psychometrists, psychologists, business experts and coaches, is known as Orgro. However, we formerly operated as FWA Organisational Development. Thus, organisational design and development are integral to our specialisation and the expertise with which we assist other companies in their quest to perform optimally.
We investigate, assess and co-operatively help to implement the structures, strategies and processes that we custom-create to specifically meet the needs of each client whom we serve. Our ability to customise relevant processes and solutions is vitally important, since no two organisations are the same. We don’t adopt a “one size fits all” approach.
Our aim is to assist in the improvement and maximisation of the potential within the company and each of its key people – individually and in a team/group context. The achievement of individual and overall peak performance depends on the unlocking and utilisation of potential that is often hidden or unexplored.
Organisational design is the basis of changing and improving performance in any company, providing that it’s approached impartially and with an in-depth understanding of people within the concern. That’s what keeps us passionate about your and Orgro’s successful outcomes
